The Hands That Shape Joins Sol’s In Berlin

The Hands That Shape, LLC. booth layout at Sols in Berlin in Ohio

Growing up in Ohio and Pennsylvania my husband and I became very familiar with the Shaker Woods Village in Columbiana, Ohio.  We found ourselves visiting the festival in early fall and oftentimes Christmas In The Woods (a little later in the year) year after year exploring the many treasures the artisans had available for sale.

For the last several years we have lived in Minnesota and haven’t been able to time a return visit to Ohio that lines up well with one of Shaker Woods Festivals’. In 2022 I was perusing the Shaker Woods website reminiscing about the many trips to the artisan village and came across a digital copy of their brochure. Even though we had not been able to visit the festival in several years, the brochure was a nice reminder of our many memorable trips to the Shaker Woods Village. While I was browsing the brochure I came across an advertisement that really piqued my interest.  It was for a store called Sol’s In Berlin.  After learning more about the store it was easy to make the decision to join the Sol’s In Berlin Family of talented crafters and artisans.  Sol’s In Berlin advertises itself as, “... an arts and crafts extravaganza, is Ohio's largest craft mall housing thousands of unique handmade crafts, gifts, and food items.”

The Hands That Shape, LLC. became a part of the Sol’s family of crafters on January 21st with us making the journey from Minnesota to the heart of Ohio Amish country to set up our new booth.  The Sol’s location is made up of three stores: Sol’s Palace, Sol’s Exchange, and Sol’s Kit-N-Kaboodle.  Each is packed full of an assortment of crafts ranging from wood crafts, dolls, candles, ceramics, floral arrangements, clothes, furniture and food options.  Our booth is located in Sol's Palace on the 1st floor; booth number 749. We brought with us many of our favorite 3D layered paper and wooden art along with several brand new pieces

The 3D layered paper art is made up of multiple colored cardstock layers.  Each layer represents a small portion of the overall picture that requires that color.  When all the cut layers are stacked on top of each other with spacers they form a 3d image that is contained within a shadowbox.

Some of our new pieces on display at the store are our Running Horses, Barn and Farmscape, and Sunflower Field wooden art pieces.  Each piece is comprised of  many individual wooden pieces cut out of different species of wood placed side by side, allowing the different wood grains and colors to paint the pictures.

Some of the returning favorites include the Winter Village, Buck and Highland Cow.  Each are made by cutting smaller pieces out and placing them side by side to create the overall picture.  Also on display in Berlin, Ohio are our layered nature scenes with the mahogany frames along with some of our Two layer striped art pieces made up of either a brown, blue or gray striped silhouette nature picture over a black background.

We also have several of our earring designs available for purchase including blue and black wooden circle and teardrop filigree designs and acrylic lotus designs.  All of our earring findings are nickel free stainless steel.

Due to size constraints each store display only contains a small offering of the many products we have available.  Please checkout our website at https://www.thehandsthatshape.com/ and Etsy page https://thehandsthatshape.etsy.com for a larger selection of items that can be shipped throughout the continental United States.

If you find yourself in Berlin swing by Sol’s to check out our new booth. Not only is Berlin, Ohio a wonderful area to visit if you’re looking for Amish or handmade goods, but there is easily enough to fill a weekend and several delicious restaurants worth visiting.  Might I recommend the coconut cream turnover at Olde World Bistro?
